Securing Quality Care: Rural Health in Iowa

Share

Please join the Bipartisan Policy Center in Des Moines for a discussion with Sen. Chuck Grassley about the barriers that rural Iowans face in securing quality health care.

During the first half of the event, Grassley will talk about his efforts in Congress to address rural health care challenges and will answer audience questions.

Then, a panel of area experts will discuss the shortage of physicians and clinicians in rural areas and what can be done about it. We’ll also look at the promise of telehealth and what it means for patients to have virtual visits with a doctor, nurse, or other clinicians.

This event will help inform BPC’s Rural Health Task Force, which has convened to develop policy solutions to rural America’s health care shortages. The task force, co-chaired by former Sens. Tom Daschle and Olympia Snowe and former Govs. Ronnie Musgrove and Tommy Thompson will address: 1) rightsizing health care services that better fit a community’s needs, 2) creating appropriate payment models for services, 3) strengthening the rural workforce, and 4) expanding telemedicine services.

Please join us for this vital conversation about the future of rural health care.
