Colette D. Honorable

Colette Honorable is a BPC senior fellow. She is a highly regarded policymaker in domestic and international energy policy, and recently served as a commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). She was nominated to that role by President Barack Obama in August 2014, and unanimously confirmed by the Senate in December 2014 for a term that expired in June 2017.

At FERC, Honorable focused on the reliability of the bulk power system; cyber and physical security; wholesale markets; transmission planning and cost allocation in regional transmission organizations; gas-electric coordination; renewables integration; energy-storage integration and valuation; and enforcement, ratemaking, and infrastructure development. Honorable joined the FERC from the Arkansas Public Service Commission, where she served from 2007 to 2015, and was chairman from 2011 to 2015.

Honorable is past president of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.

A native of Arkansas, she is a graduate of the University of Memphis and received a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law.
