C. Robert Henrikson
Board Member; Former President and CEO of MetLife, Inc.
C. Robert Henrikson is a member of BPC’s board of directors and serves on BPC’s Commission on Retirement Security and Personal Savings. He previously served as president and chief executive officer of MetLife, Inc. and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
During his more than 39-year career with MetLife, Inc., Henrikson held a number of senior positions in its individual, group and pension businesses, which culminated in his term as president and CEO from March 2006 through May 2011. Today, Henrikson is a frequent guest speaker at industry events and business schools, focusing on leadership, negotiations, and regulatory/legislative issues affecting the life insurance industry.
Henrikson currently serves on the board of directors of Swiss Re Ltd., the board of Invesco Ltd., and the board of trustees of Emory University. He is a former chairman of the American Council of Life Insurers, a former chairman of the Financial Services Forum, a director emeritus of the American Benefits Council, and chairman of the board of S.S. Huebner Foundation for Insurance Education. In 2010 he was appointed to the President’s Export Council, the principal national advisory committee on international trade.
Henrikson received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from Emory University School of Law. He is also a graduate of the Wharton School’s Advanced Management Program.
