Demonstration Awards Are a Bridge to Decarbonizing the U.S. Power Sector
Washington, DC – The Bipartisan Policy Center has long advocated for federal support for commercial demonstration projects, bridging the gap from earlier stage development to broader commercial adoption, as part of a policy agenda to scale carbon management capacity.
The following is a statement from Sasha Mackler, executive director of BPC’s Energy Program, on the Department of Energy’s announcement of grant awardees for the Carbon Capture Demonstration Projects:
“Scaling carbon management technology is essential to reduce net emissions from electricity generation. Through building these systems at-scale in real world applications, these new awards from DOE’s Carbon Capture Demonstration Projects program will advance the innovations urgently needed to decarbonize America’s power sector.”
