How to Sustainably Finance Higher Education and Promote College Affordability

The cost to attend college has skyrocketed over the past few decades, leading students to accrue increasing amounts of student debt and causing some to forgo pursuing a degree altogether. These rising prices partially stem from funding challenges at the state government level. Higher education often gets the short straw when those officials face the compounding impact of recessions, tax cuts, and a growing list of new priorities. As students struggle to keep up with price hikes, further action is needed to improve college affordability.
