The Bipartisan Policy Center’s Health System Executive Council includes top executives from some of the nation’s leading hospital and health systems. It was launched in 2017 to help guide BPC’s Future of Health Care initiative, co-chaired by former Senate Majority Leaders Tom Daschle and Bill Frist, M.D., and BPC senior advisor and former acting administrator of CMS Andy Slavitt, and senior fellow, Project Hope, and former administrator of the Health Care Financing Administration Gail Wilensky, to ensure the expertise and experience of health care providers is taken into account.
The council helps inform BPC’s policy work in individual health insurance market stabilization, Medicare and Medicaid, patients with complex care needs, delivery system reforms, rural health care challenges and innovations, behavioral health, and the opioid crisis.
BPC sees great value in tapping the experience and insight of these leaders to gain a better understanding of the real-world innovations they deploy to meet the challenges in health care quality, cost, and access, and the opportunities for change.
MemorialCare President and CEO Barry Arbuckle on Value in Health Care
As the administration and Congress contemplate the future of America’s health care system, the council will work with BPC to make sure the policies under consideration take into account the needs and daily realities of the nation’s hospitals, health systems; physicians, nurses and clinical partners; and the patients served.
