One potential use for low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites is to help bridge the digital divide. This gap between individuals, households, and communities that have access to the internet and those that do not has become all too important to address. In many parts of the world, particularly in rural and remote areas, traditional broadband infrastructure such as fiber optic cables and cell towers are either nonexistent or too expensive to build and maintain. LEOs can offer an alternative means of delivering internet access to these underserved regions.
